Al anon borrows from lots of philosophies and gives folks a lot: Community, a way to live, activity. The view that she “should move on” reveals a rather simplistic and one dimension world view. Al anon is designed / intended to reduce the pain of those with an alcoholic loved one.

I like that al anon does not rigidly prescribe you must leave or you must stay advice to the spouses. Do what you can to organise an appointment with a counsellor, a psychologist or psychiatrist and find an al anon meeting. Get a notepad or journal to write your thoughts down (to externalise. It has no central leader, it doesn't ask for money (even the dollar in the basket is voluntary), it doesn't seek to isolate you.
